Diagnost for Windows and macOS

All-module scan on any make — on Windows and macOS: ABS, airbags, transmission, body electronics, live sensors, emissions readiness, Toyota hybrid battery. For BMW with a cable — dealer-level depth: coding of hidden functions, with an automatic backup before any write.

Windows 7–11 · free · 3.1.13.0

The program itself. Works right away as a universal scanner for any car through an ELM327, OBDLink or J2534 adapter — no extra downloads needed.

For BMW — EDIABAS + databases

Optional add-on. Needed only for deep BMW diagnostics through a K+DCAN or ENET cable. Install it after the main program — Diagnost picks it up automatically.

Installation

  1. Unpack the archive and run «Установить.bat» — confirm the administrator prompt.
  2. A Diagnost shortcut appears on the desktop. Plug in the adapter and launch it.
  3. For BMW, also install the EDIABAS package below — the program detects it automatically.

What the program does

Full module scan

Polls every control unit on any make — engine, ABS, airbags, transmission, body electronics (cars with a CAN bus, roughly 2008 and newer). Explains each fault in plain language, shows the freeze frame and emissions readiness, and clears codes either all at once or module by module.

Coding of hidden functions (BMW, Windows)

For BMW with a K+DCAN or ENET cable, in the Windows version: enable or disable functions by name with checkboxes — digital speed display, comfort closing, light options. Every write is preceded by a backup, verified by reading it back and rolled back automatically on mismatch.

Live data & trip recording

Watch sensors in real time, record parameters during a drive and inspect the log as an interactive chart with zoom.

Built-in AI mechanic

The same AI as on this site, but it sees the car directly: it can scan modules, read sensors and mileage itself, then explain what it found.

Toyota and Lexus hybrid battery

Voltages of every block of the high-voltage battery, the spread between them and a ready verdict — Prius 2/3/4, Aqua, Auris HSD, CT200h, Camry Hybrid, RX400h and RX450h. The thing people usually buy a separate app for. Mileage cross-check across modules — for BMW with a cable.

Backups & history

Snapshot of all modules to your desktop, per-VIN history of every session, fault-memory diffs between visits.

What you need

  • A Windows 7–11 laptop or a Mac (macOS). On a Mac, USB and WiFi adapters work; BLE not yet
  • BMW E series / Mini R50-R56: K+DCAN cable (≈10$) — Windows version only
  • BMW G series 2017+: ENET cable (≈10$) — Windows version only
  • Any other make: an ELM327 adapter (USB, Bluetooth, BLE or WiFi), an OBDLink MX+/EX or a J2534 device (Mini-VCI, Mongoose, MDI, VCM II, Scanmatik) — all-modules scan on CAN-era cars, universal OBD2, Toyota hybrid battery check
  • Pre-2007 cars without a CAN bus: the same K+DCAN cable or a VAG KKL cable — direct K-line (KWP2000, ISO 9141-2, VAG KW1281, Subaru SSM2). The program finds every connected adapter itself and picks the one that is on the car

Which adapter you need

The program finds every connected adapter itself and picks the one plugged into the car — you can keep both a cable and an ELM327 in the laptop. Below: what each adapter gives you and which cars it works on.

AdapterCarsWhat Diagnost readsNotes
ELM327 — USB, Bluetooth, BLE, WiFiAny make with an OBD-II port: petrol from 2001 (US from 1996), diesel from 2004. All-module scan on cars with a CAN bus, roughly 2008 and newer.Engine faults with explanations, live sensors, emissions readiness, freeze frame, VIN-based ID card, UDS/KWP module scan (ABS, airbags, transmission — addresses for VAG, Toyota/Lexus, Nissan/Infiniti, GM, Ford; standard ones elsewhere), Toyota/Lexus hybrid battery, catalyst test.v1.5 clones are more reliable than v2.1. BLE units without SPP work. WiFi — when the laptop is on the adapter's network. $5–20.
OBDLink MX+ / EX (STN chip)Same as ELM327 plus the secondary buses: Ford, Mazda, Lincoln from 2003 (MS-CAN, pins 3/11) on MX+ and EX; Opel, Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick from 2004 (SW-CAN, pin 1) on MX+ only.Everything ELM327 does, faster and more stable; on MS-CAN — Ford/Mazda body, cluster, audio; on SW-CAN — GM/Opel body, airbags, cluster (GMLAN fault codes via $A9 from version 3.1.13, not yet verified on a car).OBDLink SX and LX have no MS/SW-CAN and behave like a regular ELM327. About $100–150.
J2534: Mini-VCI, Mongoose, GM MDI, Ford VCM II, Scanmatik 2 Pro, Tactrix OpenportAny make with CAN — same as ELM327. Not used for BMW: that needs K+DCAN or ENET.The program drives them like an ELM327 — the whole list above. The device is found through the vendor driver (J2534 04.04).Mini-VCI from $20. Install the driver that ships with the adapter.
K+DCAN cable (Windows)BMW E series 1998–2013 (E36, E38, E39, E46, E53, E60, E65, E70, E83, E87, E90…) and Mini R50–R56. Other makes 1996–2007 — over K-line (row below). All modules, ID card, mileage per module, service/CBS, DPF, battery registration, adaptations, activations, coding with backup and verification. Needs the EDIABAS package (below on this page).About $10. Windows only. On cables with a 7/8 switch use position 7 for K-line cars.
ENET cable (Windows)BMW F, G and I series 2010+ (F10, F30, G30, G05, i3…).Same as K+DCAN: full BMW depth through EDIABAS over DoIP.About $10. Windows only. Needs the EDIABAS package.
Direct K-line: the same K+DCAN or a VAG KKL cablePre-CAN cars: Toyota/Lexus up to ~2005, Mercedes up to 2004, Opel up to 2004, Renault, Peugeot/Citroën, Fiat, Hyundai/Kia up to ~2005 (KWP2000, ISO 9141-2); VW/Audi/Skoda/SEAT up to ~2000 (KW1281); Subaru up to 2007 (SSM2).The program sweeps the module addresses itself: identification and faults of every module that answers, clearing. KW1281 — identification, codes, clearing; SSM2 — identification (no codes yet).Works without EDIABAS too. A KKL on a CH340/PL2303 chip is assigned in the program by hand. About $5.
OP-COM (Opel), SD Connect C4/C6 (Mercedes), Ross-Tech HEX-CAN (VAG) — not connected directlyTheir cars are covered by the program's own modules since 3.1.13: Opel and GM 2004+ (GMLAN), Mercedes and Smart 2004+ (diagnostic CAN), VW/Audi/Skoda/SEAT 2004–2008 (TP2.0).The same over ELM327, OBDLink or J2534. Opel: engine, gearbox, ABS, GMLAN codes, with OBDLink MX+ also body modules on SW-CAN. Mercedes: engine, gearbox, modules found by ID-pair auto-search. VAG 2004–2008: module list from the gateway, identification, codes, clearing. The adapters themselves cannot be connected — the PC-to-adapter protocol is closed; when plugged in, the program recognises them and suggests a replacement. The 3.1.13 modules were written from documentation and are not yet tested on live cars.
