P0341 — Camshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Range/Performance (Bank 1 or Single Sensor)

What it means

The signal of camshaft position sensor A is present, but it does not correlate with the crankshaft signal inside the calibrated window. Most often the valve timing itself has shifted, the trigger wheel is damaged or the cam phaser is stuck away from its commanded position. Symptoms are hard starting, loss of power, rough idle and a disabled variable valve timing system.

Likely causes (most common first)

1. Stretched timing chain, worn tensioner or guides, jumped timing belt
2. Loose or damaged camshaft trigger wheel, shifted cam phaser
3. Faulty camshaft position sensor producing a distorted waveform
4. Low oil pressure or dirty oil so the phaser cannot reach the commanded angle
5. Wiring damage, intermittent contact or interference on the signal line
6. Missing adaptation or outdated ECM software after a previous repair

Can you drive with it?

Drive only to the workshop and gently: a stretched chain that jumps further can bend the valves.
