P0365 — Camshaft Position Sensor B Circuit (Bank 1)

What it means

There is no usable signal from camshaft position sensor B on bank 1, which on most engines is the exhaust camshaft sensor of a dual variable valve timing system. Without that reference the module cannot control the exhaust cam phaser and switches it off in its default position. The result is a rough idle, weaker torque at low engine speed, higher emissions and sometimes increased internal exhaust gas recirculation.

Likely causes (most common first)

1. Failed exhaust camshaft position sensor
2. Oil in the connector or on the sensor tip, failed sealing ring
3. Open or shorted wiring, corroded connector terminals
4. Damaged or contaminated exhaust camshaft trigger wheel
5. Cam phaser stuck out of position or timing chain wear on the exhaust cam
6. Failed sensor input circuit inside the ECM

Can you drive with it?

You can drive with reduced power, but fix it soon since the fault often points at timing chain wear.
