P0202 — Injector Circuit/Open - Cylinder 2

moderate

What it means

The engine control module found no current or an out of range resistance in the control circuit of the cylinder 2 injector. Fuel delivery to that cylinder stops or becomes incorrect, so the cylinder misfires and the engine shakes, especially at idle. Raw air and fuel passing into the exhaust also disturb the oxygen sensor readings and overheat the catalytic converter.

Likely causes (most common first)

  1. Damaged or corroded connector at the cylinder 2 injector
  2. Broken or chafed wire in the harness running along the engine
  3. Open injector winding, coil resistance outside the specified value
  4. Blown fuse or faulty relay in the injector supply circuit
  5. Damaged common power feed or ground of the injector group
  6. Failed injector output stage in the engine control module

Can you drive with it?

Only a short trip to the workshop: a permanently dead cylinder overheats the catalytic converter and dilutes the engine oil with fuel.
