P0201 — Injector Circuit/Open - Cylinder 1

moderate

What it means

The control module monitors the current through the injector of cylinder 1 and has detected an open circuit or a resistance outside the specified range. The cylinder receives no fuel or an incorrect dose, so the engine runs on the remaining cylinders. It shows up as rough running, vibration, loss of power and unburned oxygen reaching the catalytic converter.

Likely causes (most common first)

  1. Corroded, loose or damaged connector at the cylinder 1 injector
  2. Break or chafe in the wiring between the control module and the injector
  3. Open winding inside the injector, resistance out of specification
  4. Blown fuse or faulty relay feeding the injector supply line
  5. Poor ground or damaged common supply of the injector group
  6. Failed injector driver stage inside the engine control module

Can you drive with it?

Driving is only advisable as far as the nearest workshop: the dead cylinder causes misfire and pushes raw fuel and oxygen into the catalytic converter.
