P0113 — Intake Air Temperature Circuit High Input
minor
What it means
The signal voltage of the IAT sensor has exceeded the permitted limit, which the control module reads as an extremely low intake air temperature. The mixture is then enriched more than necessary, giving rough idle, higher consumption and sometimes a fuel smell. Starting in warm weather may take longer than usual.
Likely causes (most common first)
- Open circuit in the IAT signal or ground wire
- Loose, corroded or disconnected sensor connector
- Faulty intake air temperature sensor with an internal open circuit
- Broken pin or spread terminal in the connector
- Short to voltage in the signal wire
- Faulty engine control module (rare)
Can you drive with it?
The car remains drivable; expect a richer mixture, higher consumption and slightly slower warm starts.
This is the generic meaning. What about your car?
The same code has different typical culprits on different engines. Tell the AI your make, model and year — it will rank the causes for your exact car and give you a check order.
