P0369 — Camshaft Position Sensor B Circuit Intermittent (Bank 1)

What it means

The signal from camshaft position sensor B on bank 1 disappears or becomes noisy from time to time instead of failing permanently. Such faults typically show up when the engine is hot, over bumps or in a narrow engine speed band, which makes them hard to catch with a static test. Symptoms are occasional jerking, brief power loss, momentary shutdown of the cam phaser and a warning lamp that comes and goes.

Likely causes (most common first)

1. Loose or oxidised connector, spread pins or a broken locking tab
2. Chafed harness or a break inside the insulation that opens when hot
3. Sensor that fails at operating temperature and recovers when cold
4. Metal debris or oil film on the trigger wheel, uneven air gap
5. Electromagnetic interference from ignition leads or badly routed aftermarket wiring
6. Timing chain wear causing signal jitter around the tolerance limit

Can you drive with it?

Driving is possible, but the fault is intermittent, so expect random jerking and occasional stalling.
