U0155 — Lost Communication With Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Control Module

moderate

What it means

Other control units no longer receive bus messages from the instrument cluster, which on most cars is itself a bus node and part of the immobiliser chain. Gauges, odometer, warning lamps and driver information may freeze, go blank or show wrong values, and on some vehicles the engine will not start because the immobiliser cannot be released. On many models the cluster also relays outside temperature, fuel level and service data to other modules.

Likely causes (most common first)

  1. Blown fuse or lost power and ground at the cluster connector
  2. Loose, corroded or partly unplugged cluster connector, often after dashboard work
  3. Broken CAN or LIN wiring behind the dashboard
  4. Internal cluster fault: cracked solder joints, failed processor or water damage
  5. Interference from a badly installed aftermarket radio, alarm or tracker tapped into the bus
  6. Gateway module failure or a bus fault caused by another node

Can you drive with it?

Short trips are possible if the engine runs, but you lose speed, fuel and warning indication, so repair it quickly.

This is the generic meaning. What about your car?
